Google Chrome 6 released

Google has managed to churn out many major releases of the Chrome browser during the last couple of years and now they have released the first stable build for Chrome 6. The new version has a more simplified user interface: there’s a single menu, the “go” button has been removed and the Reload and Stop buttons have been combined into one, the browser no longer shows “http://” in the address bar, the bookmark button has been moved to the right and the toolbar has a new color scheme.

Further more Chrome 6 adds support for form auto-fill and support for WebM videos. You can now synchronize auto-fill data, extensions and all their settings. Extension sync is probably the coolest new feature to be introduced, because you can take your extensions with you no matter what computer your are using. “WebM is an open, royalty-free, media file format designed for the web” which is already supported by software like Opera, VLC, Winamp and by YouTube.

The Stable and Beta channels of Google Chrome 6 have been updated to 6.0.472.55 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.  This version contains the following fixes:

All

  • [r58038] [r58039] Failures when using auto-complete (issue 51727, 52940)
  • [r58106] Default search engine settings wiped out (issue 10913)
  • Shift reload not working (issue 1906)

Windows

  • [r58190] Importing data from other browsers when chrome is set as default  (bug 53655)
  • [r58288] Chrome can’t be made default browser when it already exists (bug 53656)

Google released stable version of Chrome for Mac!

Recently google announced the stable release of their browser Chrome for Mac. The latest browser provides not only the stability, performance and polish that every Mac user expects, but also a seamless native Mac application experience that Mac users will feel instantly at home with.

Chrome Evolution - First dev, then beta, now stable!

Chrome Evolution

(First dev, then beta, now stable!)

Here is is a quote from Official google Blog:

Just like its Windows and Linux siblings, the stable version of Chrome for Mac comes with all the goodness of one of our biggest speed improvements to date. We’ve worked to make Chrome for Mac fast, fully-featured and extensible – with access to more than 4,500 extensions in the gallery. Some of Chrome for Mac’s most-requested features are now available, including full-screen mode (just hit Command + Shift + F!), easy and powerful bookmark management, as well as the ability to synchronize not only bookmarks, but also browser preferences across computers.

Those who have already installed the Chrome beta version will get the latest version installed automatically via the auto-update feature.

If you have not installed Chrome on your Mac as yet or don’t want to wait for the auto-update, you can download the stable version of Chrome for Mac.

Google Chrome 5 Browser Offline Installer Download

Hey guys,

The latest chrome browser, what may be the beginning of what will be released as Google Chrome version 5 is out for windows. Google Chrome v5 now officially supports NoScript-like behavior, where you can stop all javascript from running, except the scripts you authorize. This new version also lets you selectively choose which cookies, images, plug-ins and pop-ups are allowed as well.

With the new release, all Google Chrome users on PCs can access many new features, through their new extension system. Extensions are little programs, created by developers, which add useful functionality to the browser and to the websites you visit. Check out the available extensions here https://chrome.google.com/extensions?hl=en-US

Another feature that I find useful is Bookmark Sync. Bookmark Sync makes it easy to keep the same set of bookmarks on multiple computers. When you enable sync, your bookmarks will get stored online in your Google Account. Each additional computer on which you enable sync will receive the same bookmarks.

Finally I get to the point of trying to download the offline installer as I like to keep an installation copy just in case I need it later on. I have posted an article here which shows you how to download the offline installer. But there is a problem, the download page is not updated with the latest offline installer. If you check the download you will see that it downloads the old Google Chrome v3 Browser.Seems like Google are not keen on updating the Chrome offline installer download page with the latest browser.

Anyhow I have managed to figure out the link from which you can download the latest v5 Chrome browser.
